A historical French value or insured letter from Saint-Florentin in the Yonne department to the Trésorier Payeur Général de l’Yonne in Auxerre, i.e., to a government financial authority. Particularly striking is the "CHARGÉ" marking. This shipping method was used for highly secure or value-declared items. The handwritten note "Valeur déclarée … francs" at the top of the front also corresponds to this. The letter bears an attractive multiple franking with French postage stamps and several clear "ST-FLORENTIN / YONNE" postmarks. The "ST-FLORENTIN No. 0711" chargé/registration label is also fully intact.

A particularly beautiful detail is on the reverse: the envelope was secured with a total of five red wax seals. This type of sealing is typical for value and money shipments and gives the document a decidedly decorative and authentic character.

The letter is in a noticeably used, age-appropriate condition with fold marks, creases, edge damage, and minor tears. However, the franking, chargé marking, postal stamps, and especially the five wax seals are well-preserved – see photos.
