Swiss international letter from 1881, posted in Winterthur and sent to Rothenburg ob der Tauber in what was then the German Empire. The letter is attractively franked with a total of 25 Rappen. A 5 Rappen stamp and two 10 Rappen stamps of the "Seated Helvetia" issue were used. The stamps were cancelled with clear circular postmarks WINTERTHUR – 25 X 81. The handwritten address specifies the destination as Rothenburg ob der Tauber, with the district of Würzburg underneath. The name of the recipient is written in an old script and is not entirely legible in all parts.

On the reverse, there is another neatly struck arrival or transit postmark from October 27, 1881, which further documents the postal route of the letter.
