Historical Background

On August 26, 1934, the NSDAP held a large-scale propaganda rally at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress near Koblenz ahead of the Saar plebiscite scheduled for January 1935. The event served to mobilize support for National Socialism and to influence public opinion regarding the future of the Saar region.

The present postcard documents this historical era through both its contemporary image and its postal markings.
