The illustrations in this volume are by Birket Foster. The ornamental designs were drawn by John Sleigh. Engraved and printed by the Brothers Dalziel. The poems are by Milton, Spenser, the Earl of Surrey, Herrick, Charlotte Smith, Smollett, Shakespeare, etc.

This unique copy was bound in full morocco, with gilt and blind stamped decorations otherwise found only on the ordinary, if scarce, cloth first edition. All edges gilt.

Colored ornamental half-title and title page with colored initials and continuous ornamentation throughout. Toned, very finely colored illustrations by Birket Foster, engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. Very nicely marbled endpapers.
