Historical airmail letter from Tetuán in the former Spanish Morocco to Dresden.
Particularly interesting is the sender’s note on the back:
“L. Richter, Consulado Alemania, Tetuan Span. Marokko”
as well as the clearly preserved official stamp of the German Consulate in Tetuán with the state emblem.
The front bears an attractive multiple franking of Spanish-Moroccan Correo Aéreo / airmail stamps and the handwritten note “Por Avión”. The letter was addressed to Dresden and shows several postal processing and transit markings. Due to the combination of Spanish Morocco, airmail, German diplomatic mission, and actual postal usage, this item is significantly more interesting than an ordinary letter sent abroad.
The envelope is in a used condition consistent with its age, with creases, folding marks, and signs of wear along the edges. However, the franking, sender’s note, and consulate stamp are well preserved – see images.
An interesting historical collector’s item for collectors of Spanish Morocco, airmail, German consulate mail, diplomatic missions, colonial and postal history, as well as German contemporary history.
