• So that a wholesome remedy against the poison might be available before the poison itself causes harm; Luther’s poisonous government did not arise so quickly and suddenly against divine providence: for three years prior, for the consolation of the Church, Cajetan of Thiene had been born into the world. He came down from heaven, like a Christian Hercules and courageous hero, armed with such great graces to exterminate the hellish monstrosity of disbelief. A witness to his virtue and divine premonition is the renegade heretic himself, namely when he understood that in Rome a new hero, possessed of invincible faith and virtue, was emerging, who would not only manfully take up arms for the fire of the truth intended by the government, but would also attract more such brave spirits to accelerate his most important endeavor.
