Philatelic international letter from Paris to Berlin-Neukölln.

The pre-printed sender is particularly appealing:

“REGISTRE D’ÉCHANGISTES DE CARTES POSTALES ILLUSTRÉES ET DE TIMBRES-POSTE”

This is effectively a register or organization for the exchange of illustrated postcards and postage stamps. The letter is thus directly linked to the early international scene of stamp and picture postcard collectors. The front shows an attractive mixed or multiple franking of French stamps. Notable are the five 2-centime stamps placed next to each other as well as an additional 20-centime stamp. All stamps were postally cancelled. The letter was addressed to the German collector Gustav Wiegand in Berlin-Neukölln. The elegant handwritten address and the decorative company envelope make this item visually very appealing.

The envelope has been through the post and shows signs of wear due to age and transit. In particular, there are edge and corner creases, minor tears or signs of opening, as well as general paper aging. The franking is overall well-preserved and, together with the pre-printed sender, forms a very beautiful ensemble typical of the era.
