Historical registered letter from Luxembourg from the period of German occupation during the Second World War. Particularly attractive is the extensive multicolored franking with numerous different denominations from the 1940 series of Luxembourg definitive stamps with German Reichspfennig surcharges. This occupation issue appeared starting in December 1940 and included numerous different values.

The present letter features values of 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 Reichspfennig, among others. The stamps are canceled with contemporary Luxembourg daily postmarks. The original registration label “Luxemburg 1 – No. 86” is completely intact. The letter was sent to Magdeburg on March 27, 1941. The nearly complete sequence of denominations makes the cover particularly decorative. Comparable philatelically franked Luxembourg letters from this occupation period are regularly collected today; simple set and mixed frankings are often traded in the low to mid double-digit euro range, while larger multicolored frankings and attractive registered covers can be valued higher. Long envelope

The envelope is in a used condition commensurate with its age, with slight paper browning, minor spots, creases, and edge wear. However, the franking, the registration label, and the postal postmarks are well preserved – see image.

An attractive historical collector's item for collectors of Luxembourg, German occupation mail 1940–1941, registered letters, multicolored frankings, and postal history of the Second World War.
