This contemporary business letter documents the connection between the German Chamber of Commerce in Finland and the Reichsbahn Central Office for German Tourism in Berlin. An interesting original document from the pre-war period relating to German-Finnish economic, transport, and tourism history. The envelope features the printed letterhead of the German Chamber of Commerce in Finland with its Finnish and Swedish name, as well as a Finnish mixed franking. The stamps are canceled with a clearly legible HELSINKI / HELSINGFORS – 19.VIII.39 postmark.
The document is in a used condition commensurate with its age. There are typical transit, folding, and edge marks, as well as minor age-related discoloration – see images.
A fine collector's item for Finnish philately, the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the Reichsbahn Central Office for German Tourism, German-Finnish economic history, and historical company mail from the 1939 era.
