Historical official court letter from Saxony, sent by the Higher Regional Court of Saxony in Dresden to the District Court in Annaberg. Of particular interest is the fully preserved green sealing wax seal on the reverse, featuring the Saxon coat of arms and the inscription:
“Sächs. Oberlandesgericht Dresden”
Such seals served to officially secure correspondence from courts and authorities and lend the document a particularly authentic administrative and legal-historical character. The front bears a contemporary 15-Pfennig official/postage stamp of the German Reich, postally cancelled. In addition, the recipient is marked by the purple stamp “das Amtsgericht” as well as the handwritten location.
The envelope is in a used condition commensurate with its age, with signs of folding, creases, slight edge damage, and paper discoloration. However, the franking, address, and especially the court seal on the reverse are well preserved – see pictures.
An interesting original document for collectors of judicial history, Saxon authorities' mail, court mail, the German Reich, and historical administrative and legal history.
